Subject: [NS-L] Post-1901 Census Memo:- Prepare for Thanksgiving Weekend!!
Date: Tue, 02 Oct 2001 00:37:08 -0400
To all:-
Many of us are looking forward to having company for the Canadian
Thanksgiving weekend --
or Day -- so now is the time to prepare for it, with concentration on
Senator Lorna Milne and
Murray Calder, MP.
Print http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index6.htm (or French
version)
You will find it only takes about 12 pages of paper -- YOUR personal
scoreboard.
The new figures as of Oct. 1, 2001, show TOO MANY who have not replied
in both Ontario
and Quebec, 26 and 55 respectively.
There is only ONE for the GOLD TICK AWARD -- Gordon may give us the name
tomorrow. but it will be going to a Member of Parliament from New
Brunswick We also
gained a fence-sitter from Newfoundland.
One is quite safe writing to all with Blue ??? in both Ontario and
Quebec -- numbers remain
the same.
Compliments to Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island --
none of their MPs
liked the Blue ??? -- they replied - or possibly like to see their
answers in print..

Seems like the Senators do not like to write letters -- we will give
them a bit more time,
but there are 69 who have Blue ???, mainly in Ontario and Quebec.
On your printed sheets, be sure you have GOLD TICK AWARDS for:-
Jack Austin, Thelma Chalifoux, Raynell Andreychuk, Sharon Carstairs,
Janis G. Johnson,
Richard H. Croft. Mira Spivak, John Trevor Eyton, Michael A. Meighen,
Lorna Milne,
Vivienne Poy, Joan Fraser, Pierre Claude Nolin, Eymard G. Corbin,
and William Rompkey.
Nicholas W. Taylor and Lowell Murray would vote against the Bill.
You may send letters requesting support on behalf of Senator Lorna
Milne to all except the
15 names listed above. (A note of thanks?)
========
Just a bit more printing before the company descends:-
http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm
You will not have any problems downloading the petitions if you download
Adobe Acrobat first.
This is a crucial time for Senator Lorna Milne -- she needs ALL the
signatures each one of us
is able to gather -- five envelopes from United States today -- where is
the OGS??? We need help!
Why sign petitions???? The government scrutineers like to know WE want
the census records
released -- approach your town or city officials -- then one of the
above NO people would
not be able to state "only" genealogists want the records released.
However, I feel confident -- but we must do all we are able to assist
Senator Milne.
