Hi All:
At the risk of prolonging this thread, here is my two cents worth.
Electronic mail or "e-mail" is a service, akin to snail mail, that delivers
notes/messages, which is what you actually read. You cannot read a service.
I would guess that at least 99 and 44/100ths percent of us are provided
e-mail service only via the Internet. Stated differently, for almost all of
us, there is only one e-mail service. Therefore, e-mail is a noun that is
singular, and the term e-mails is inappropriate.
Don't you wish you hadn't started this. :-)
