The following was found in the Tewksbury Almshouse Inmate Case
Histories, Vol. 55, 12/1890 to 4/1891, Tewksbury, MA, case 89711:

Tappan, Annie, 28, came there from Boston Mar. 28, 1891. 28, born in N.
S., left there in 1889 to Boston by steamer from Halifax. Mother died
in N. S. Father still living in Sydney, C. B., also step-mother. No
friends or relatives here. Baggage with Mrs. Cook, Cherry St., Roxbury.
Enceinte 6 months. Father of child Samuel Tappan. Knows nothing of
him. Discharged Apr. ?, 1891.
