The following was found in the Tewksbury Almshouse Inmate Case
Histories, Vol. 15, 10/1871 to 4/1872, Tewksbury, MA., case 37799:
Phillips, Johanna, 39, came there from Lowell Nov. 8, 1871. 42, born
Halifax, N. S., landed in Boston 1852. Husband, Samuel Phillips, dead.
Has 4 children all bound out in good places. Daughter, Margaret,
formerly in family of Dr. H. B. Wheelwright. Has been in B. A. H.
several times and transferred here. Been in public institutions for
past 10 or 12 years. Feeble. Died Dec. 2, 1871.
