The following was found in the Tewksbury Almshouse Inmate Case
Histories, Vol. 16, 4/1872 to 10/1872, Tewksbury, MA., case 39256:
McLane, Isabella, 46, came there from Boston Sept. 2, 1872. 46, born
Pictou, N. S., landed in Boston 1850 and there most of time since.
Husband, Richard McLane, a sailor, died in St. John's, Newfoundland
1855. Son, John, in San Francisco, Cal. Domestic. Been lodging here
and there past 6 months. D. I. 3 times. Came up last time about Aug.
1, both times for drunk. Has been drinking for several days. Arrested
several times. Bumming since last Spring. Vagrant. No home or
friends. Sent to B. W. H. Sept. 24, 1872.
