The following was found in the Tewksbury Almshouse Inmate Case
Histories, Vol. 18, 2/1873 to 7/1873, Tewksbury, MA., case 40739:

Carson, William B., 45, came there from Boston March 26, 1873. 45, born
Halifax, N. S., left there 1853. Enlisted in Eastport Co. "I" 3d U. S.
Artillery, served 9 years. Enlisted Feb. 22, 1862 Co. "G" 88th N. Y.,
served 2 1/2 years. Lowell and Lawrence one year, Portland 3 years,
Brunswick, Maine and Dover, N. H. Former inmate 40501 and sent to
Portland. There a few days and worked his passage back to Boston on
boat. Single. Parents never here. No friends. Discharged April 4,
1873.
