OXFORD - Mrs. Claude C. Wood, 65, of Oxford and formerly of Amherst, died
Monday in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst.
Born in Memramcook, N.B., she was the former Leona Elizabeth Cormier, a
daughter of the late Paul (Hypolite) and Celina (LeBlanc) Cormier.
She was a member of the Pythian Sisters Cedar Temple No. 21, Oxford, the
Friendship Club, and O-K-O Club.
She was an adherent of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Claude, her stepmother, Martha (Mrs.
George Sharpe), Amherst; two daughters, Ruth (Mrs. Carvill Taylor), Burns
Lake, B.C., and Anita (Mrs. Gary O'Blenis), Amherst; a son, Henry Paul Wood
at home; a stepdaughter, Georgie (Mrs. Roy Cossitt), Sarnia, Ont.; a
stepson, David Wood, Vancouver; two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Freeman Bennett),
Oshawa, Ont.; and Anita (Mrs. Howard Fisher), Auburn, Mass.; two
half-sisters, Mrs. Paula Cormier and Vivian (Mrs. James MacPhee), both of
Amherst; two half-brothers, Thomas Cormier, Hamilton, Ont., and Bruce
Cormier, Amherst; and 11 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Walton Hunter; a foster
daughter, Mrs. Edna Olsen; a sister, Nina, and an infant brother, Lloyd.
The body is in Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford, where funeral service will
be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Edgar Patriquin officiating. Committal
service will be in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery Receiving Vault with burial in
Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery in the spring.
