BATTISTE, Frances - 56, Eskasoni, died May 18, 2004. She was a daughter of
Mary Rose (Johnson), Membertou and the late Joseph Gould. Surviving are
husband, Frederick Sr.; daughters, Rosemary, Janet, Bella, Shelly; sons,
Frederick Jr., Milton, Cregg; 12 grandchildren; brother, Sidney; sisters,
Janet, Joanne, "Sugar", Margaret, Mary, Marie. She was predeceased by son,
Joseph in infancy; grandson, Andalo; brothers, Milton, Francis, James.
Visitation 7 p.m. Saturday at 49 Mickey's Lane, Eskasoni. Funeral 11 a.m.
Monday in Holy Family Church, Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment
in the parish cemetery.
MILLER, Sarah "Sadie" (RN) - 92, New Waterford, died May 19, 2004. Born in
Bridgeport, she was a daughter of the late Ronald and Margaret (Rigby)
MacSween. Surviving are son, Charles; daughters, Jane, Linda; four
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband,
Dr. Charles P. Miller; five brothers; four sisters. Visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m.
today in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. Funeral service 11
a.m. Saturday, May 22, in Mount Carmel Church. Burial in the parish
cemetery. Reception to follow in Carmel Center. Donations to Heart and
Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. )
MacRAE, Donald Murdock - 70, Lakeview Manor, Baddeck, died May 18, 2004, in
Victoria County Memorial Hospital. Born in Middle River, he was a son of the
late Alexander Dan and Jean Porter (MacIver) MacRae. He was a member of
Farquharson Presbyterian Church, Middle River, and was a sheet metalist by
trade. He is survived by his children, Brian Donald, Surrey, B.C.; Shasta
Jean (Real) Desbiens, Edmonton, Alta.; Wendelin Gail (Dawe) MacRae and their
mother, Marjorie MacRae, Edmonton; brothers, Malcolm (Lillian), Summerland,
B.C.; Harey (Moria), Penticton, B.C.; sister, Irene (Charles) Nicholson,
Lower Sackville; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; many nieces
and nephews. He will be sadly missed by family and friends especially
lifelong friend, Martha Morrison and family. Cremation has taken place. No
visitation by request. Graveside Committal service 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22,
Rev Ken Allan and Rev. Lloyd Murdock officiating.. Burial will be in Middle
River Cemetery. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

McPHEE, Marion - 88, Glace Bay, died May 20, 2004. Born in Dominion, she was
a daughter of the late Michael and Sarah (MacCormick) McPhee. Surviving are
sister, Florence Flynn, Dominion; numerous nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by brothers, Dan, Allan, Murdock, Arthur, Stanley; sisters,
Blanche MacDonald, Margaret "Mamie" Boone, Mildred "Millie" Gouthro.

Murray, Doris, 82, Highland St., Glace Bay, passed away Thursday at the
Glace Bay Healthcare Complex, surounded by her family. Born in Victoria,
Carbonear, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Mary Anne (Clarke) and
Charles Antle. She will be sadly missed by her sons, John (Agnes); Gur
(Marie), both of Glace Bay, daughter Mabel at home and Mona (Art) Mercer,
Oromocto, NB; daughter in law Viola Murray, Kingston, Ont.; grandchildren,
Vince; Sherry; Michael; Guy; Lynn; Devin; Brian; and four great
grandchildren: Ashley; Calvin; Jose-Lee; and Rhyse; sisters, Hannah Powell;
Bertha Antle; Phyllis Byrne; brothers, Clarence and Charlie Antle all of
Newfoundland. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband
Obediah in 1976, daughter Donna Garley in infancy; son Joshua in 1998;
sisters, Mabel Butt; Mary Louise Milley and Elizabeth Brake. Visitation
Friday 7-9 pm at Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St. Glace Bay.
Funeral service will held Saturday at 11 am. in the funeral home chapel with
Nancy Whitney, LMPiT officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace

Jandras, Loretta E. 'Betty'(Lynch), Bethlehem died May 15, 2004 in Sacred
Heart Hospital, Allentown. She was the widow of Henry L. Jandras. Born in
Sydney, NS, Canada she was the dauther of the late Dr. J.G.B.Lynch and
Elizabeth Herkiman (Butler) Lynch. She was a loving, gentle and kind wife,
mother and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic. Survivors are daughters,
Laura, Judieth, Gayle and Donna; six grandchildren. Services at 3pm.

MacLeod, Laughlin (Lauchie) Alexander, 62, Glace Bay - announce the passing
May 20,2004 at the Glace Bay, surrounded by his loving family. He was the
son of the Patrick and Mildred (McLean) MacLeod. He is survived by his wife
of 40 years, Joan A. (Saccary) MacLeod; sons, Leo (Wendy), Glace Bay; Gerard
(Kelly), Moncton; daughters, Ann Marie (Bill) Murchison, Glace Bay; Margaret
(Stan) Wadden, Port Morien; grandchildren, Leigh Ann, Glace Bay; B.J., Port
Morien; Jessica and Joseph, Moncton, who were his pride and joy; brothers
Patrick and Frank, Glace Bay; sisters, Carmella (John) MacDonald, Westmount;
Margaret (Gilbert) Gouthro, Glace Bay; sister in law, Jo-Anne, Glace Bay.
He was predeceased by a brother Roddie. Visitation will be held Saturday
