01/07/2003 Donald Archie MacLeod MIRA, NS - Donald A. (Big Donnie)
MacLeod, 74, died January 4, 2003 at Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in
Sydney on December 11, 1928, son of the late Donald (Big Dan) and Jessie
(MacPherson) MacLeod. He was a life long resident of Marion Bridge. A
lifetime member of the PC Party. He was involved with the Marion Bridge,
Albert Bridge and Gabarus Fire Departments, as well as the Mira Community
Pasture and NS Woodlot Assoc. Donnie served 23 years as a County Councillor
Dist. 13 and he served two terms as MLA for CB West. Big Donnie was married
for 52 years to the late Neila Margaret Morrison who predeceased him on
January 1, 2002. He is survived by son Donald and wife Linda and son Jim
and wife April; one brother Allister and wife Rose, NB; one brother-in-law,
Ewen Morrison who resided with the family and Angus Morrison in Ontario. He
is also survived by five grandchildren, Trinity, Jordan, Jamie Lynn, Daniel
and Sean; and one niece, Allison. Predeceased by his parents Big Dan and
Jessie and by wife Neila and granddaughter Alicia. Visitation Sunday,
January 5, 2-4 and 7-9 and Monday 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral service will be
Tuesday, January 7 at 2 p.m. at St. Columba Presbyterian Church in Marion
Bridge. Pastor Kevin Richardson will officiate. Interment at Cemetery
Point. No flowers by request. Memorials may be made to charity of choice.
