Mary Ann MacMullin

Born: February 23rd, 1912

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ann
MacMullin of Northside East Bay on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012.
Mary Ann was born at Northside East Bay, the daughter of the late
Hector MacKinnon and Elizabeth (MacLean) MacKinnon.
She was the last surviving member of her family.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Honorine), Sydney, and Hector
Daniel, Northside East Bay; daughter-in-law, Ardella MacPherson,
Halifax; granddaugthers, Michelle (Jamie) Sollazzo, Noella (Shawn)
Moore, Martha (Dwayne) Keller, all of Sydney, Charlene (Jeff)
Christians and Alana (Jamie) Wentzell, both of Halifax;
great-grandchildren, Cameron and Sophia Sollazzo, Leah, Rachel, Chloe
Moore, Audrey Keller, Xander and Gates Christians and Casey and
Gracie Wentzell.
She was predeceased by her husband, Allan Stephen, son, Allan Jerome,
siblings, Dan, Sandy, Charlie, Eddie, John W., Neil, Mickey, Margaret
Maki, Katie Campbell and Maisie Joseph.
Visitation for Mary Ann will be at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on
Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass will be
celebrated Thursday, Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, East
Bay, with Rev. Frank Abbass officiating.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to St. Mary's Building
Fund or Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Darryl MacKinnon

Passed in: Neil's Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada

It is with great sadness that the family of Darryl announces his
passing at home on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012.
Besides being a wonderful husband, father and brother, Darryl was a
special uncle to his many nieces and nephews, a cherished son-in-law
and great friend to all who knew and loved him. Along with his wife,
Kathy, Darryl was the proprietor of Back Cove Cottages for the past
12 years. He liked to work with his hands and was a carpenter by
trade. He took great pride in his community and was a member of the
NH-NH Volunteer Fire Dept., the NH-NH Development Association and a
Meals-on-Wheels volunteer, where he brightened the days of the
seniors he served.
Darryl was as gifted storyteller, a wonderful host to his cottage
guests and he will be remembered for his hearty laugh, jokes and Sam
Moon impersonation. A great nature lover, Darryl loved to sit on his
back deck and watch the whales and the eagles. Among his many loves
were the beach, fishing, music, driving, food, the Toronto Maple
Leafs and especially his family and friends. He loved children and
was a great babysitter.
Darryl is survived by his wife and best friend, Kathy (Ingram); his
son, Ronald Neil, at home; brothers, Sheldon (Valerie), Neil's
Harbour and Dean, Sydney Forks; in-laws, Ron and Bernice Ingram,
Neil's Harbour; brother-in-law, Ross (Ellen) Ingram, Ingonish; many
nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Rick, who was like a brother
to him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Neil and Annie (Hatcher) MacKinnon.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral
Home, Sydney Mines. Visitation for Darryl will take place in the
NH-NH Fire Hall on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, from 5-9 p.m. A
celebration of Darryl's life will be held at St. Andrew's Anglican
Church, Neil's Harbour on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev.
Warren Huestis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NH-NH Volunteer Fire
Dept., NH-NH Development Association or charity of your choice.

Sheila Marie Googoo, 51, of 55 74th St., Eskasoni, passed away
peacefully, surrounded by her family and friends on Sunday, Feb. 19,
2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Roddie and Matilda
(Dennis) Googoo.
She was a member of Holy Family parish, Eskasoni.
Sheila was always a warm, lovable person who will be missed as a kind
mother and grandmother. She loved to play bingo, Yahtzee, the VLT
machine and will always be remembered for her beautiful, friendly
smile.
Sheila is survived by her four children, Denny B. Googoo, Robert
Ritchie, Austin Herney, Jane Paul, all of Eskasoni; 10 grandchildren,
Duran, Aleigha, Crisinda, Emily, Emma, Summer, Landon, Anton, Aiden,
Ansen; godchildren, Annie B. Young and Tillie Googoo. Also surviving
are sisters, Clara (Anthony), Laura, Florence, Rose Ann, Anita,
Doreen, Linda, Trudy, Karen, Barbara (David); brothers, Roderick
(Christine), Kenny (Frances), Raymond, Ryan (Hazel), Stephen, Francis
J. and godmother, Mary Lee Dennis.
She was predeceased by sisters, Susie Jane, Mary Isabel, Annie
Bridget, brother, Robert 'Bobby' and godfather, Frank Dennis.
Visitation for the late Sheila Googoo will take place after 7 p.m.,
on Thursday, Feb. 23 at 55 74th St., Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be
celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev.
Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.

Michael Tynski

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden
passing of Michael Tynski on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at the Cape
Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Stanley and Helen (Wojick) Tynski.
He was employed with Co-op for 30 years, he worked at many stores
across the Maritimes and retired as manager in the Sydney store.
His passion was gardening and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing
tarabish and picking berries for his neighbours and friends.
Michael was a kind and caring person, with a wonderful sense of
humour. He always would lend a hand to someone in need.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn 'Lynn' (MacNeil)
Tynski; his daughter, Karla Tynski and her husband, Kyle Hanniman,
Barrie, Ont.; son, Jeff Tynski, Sydney; sisters, Sr. Rose Tynski,
CSM, Antigonish, Raylene MacAskill (Jim White), Glace Bay; brothers,
Ray (Anne) Tynski, Bob Tynski (Donna Walker), Eddie (Doreen) Tynski,
all of Sydney; as well as brothers-in-law, Fred Currie, Greg Nearing
and a large extended family.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Florie
Currie, Cookie Nearing and Helen Gouthro, brother, Stan Jr. Tynski,
brother-in-law, Greg Gouthro.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, at the S.W. Chant &
Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial mass will take place 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at
the St. Mary's Polish Church, Whitney Pier, with Fr. Paul Murphy
officiating.
Interment to take place at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael's memory may be made to the
Heart and Stroke Foundation.
