Hi Maureen
There's nothing in Baillieres but I got the following from the Geographical
Names Board's search site http://www.lic.gov.au/gnb/search.htm :
ATHOL: "A locality about 5km ESE of Blayney and about 7km NW by W of
Newbridge."
There's obviously an old railway siding/station there so there would be more in
the Railway Archive's book with a name like "How and Why of Railway Station
Names" (it's a yellow book, out of print. GNB has a copy).
There are also other Athol names.
