Hi Marg.

This little bit of info might help you & others if they come on to the same.

Have been told by a family member she is (94) coming up that it was common
practice. If there was no hospital in the
town & your place of residency was out of town that you booked yourself into
the hotel to wait the birth. This family member had on sister born at a
Bathurst Hotel & the other at the Victoria Hotel, Carcoar. Hope this is of
some help.
