Gus Gross, May 25, 1887 "Was in Gus Gross’ cigar shop to see a new weighing machine. Drew crowds of people, for a nickel, 5 cent piece I was weighed. 200 pounds exactly."

Chris Gross, September 03, 1895 "Reported court, case of Chris Gross for having counterfeiting implements in his possession. September 4, case of Chris Gross concluded, he on the stand all day nearly. Went to Jury, which after being out about 20 minutes brought in verdict at 5 PM of not guilty. Trail jurors all discharged and paid off."

November 26, 1895, Rice, the Cowboy Preacher and his wife arrived on the AM train from Reno where they have been holding forth the last few days. They sang and prayed and spouted religion during PM and evening on the streets, doing good business.
