Pardon me, but if they were Loyalists they would not have been opposed to
British ships having free rein on the Hudson River.

Thanks for the second message. I am surprised to see a doctor in that area
at
the time. Hopefully I will be able to get hold of the Pelletreau
publication
and have a look. A lot of the work has already been done as to where they
all were, I am now just looking for details. I was told that they were
Loyalists and possibly helped to keep the ships out of the Hudson River with
the chain that was strung across it, during the Revolution. Supposedly the
chain was forged at Sterling Mines in Orange Co. Only a couple of the links
remain and apparently are at Westpoint now days.
