I'm trying to find my 2nd great grandfather, George Duncan's grave. He was born 1810 in Cairo, Greene County, New York and died in Atlanta, Georgia on Sept. 15, 1864. He married Lavina Barlow and had 10 children: Benjamin, George, Jr., John, Eliza, James, Lucretia, William, Charles, Charolette, & Ida. I'm assuming that because he died in Atlanta in 1864 that he was in the Civil War and probably died as a result of wounds in the Battle of Jonesborough. I found a George Duncan in the 13th Calvary as a Prisoner at Andersonville, but it says he survived and was sent to Millen, GA in Nov. 1864. Unless the info that I received on his death is wrong, this can't be the man I'm looking for. I do question that because there's also a John Duncan listed with him in the 13th NY Calvary and could be his son. I'd appreciate any information you have.Get more from the Web.
