Hi, Barbara,

I live about 15 minutes from Lander St. and it is still a place to
avoid at night, esp, N.Lander. I suppose it has improved some in the
past few years but it is still pretty run down. Broadway has been
repaved so driving is somewhat better but we are losing the brick
streets all the time. The area south of B'way near Washington's
Headquarters is looking up a bit. Upscale bakery, antique shops, etc.

Tell your husband the Courtsunis family still owns the soda
fountain/candy shop only now they are Commodore Chocolates (BEST in the
world!) and that all the 1930s mahogany woodwork is still there. It is
a must see if any of you ever get to Newburgh!
