Thanks! for all this information. I will follow up with Bob Boyle. Emma
Rainey's mother was Maria Louise HAWES of Peekskill (born abt. 1827) who married
Samuel Rainey in New Orleans in 1850. Maria's parents might have been a John
& Mary Hawes of Cortlandt but I'm a long way from confirming this. The name
also appears as Haws (1860) and even Haris (1850). in the census
transcriptions.
