Second Department is Brooklyn. Dutchess County is Third Department. The Association of the Bar of the City of New York would be as good place to call--they could probably set you in the right direction.

The NYS Appellate Division has a Committee on Character and Fitness of Applicants for Admission to the Bar. Try First Department at 212-779-1779 downstate New York and Second Department at 718-625-2214 for upstate New York ... they should be able to give you information on where records are kept for any and all persons who became attorneys. jc

Does anyone have an idea how to find a lawyer named Henry Cornell 1900-1930. I've searched the census, city directories and the NYT for over a month without success.

The only one I can find was the son of Gov. Alonzo Cornell; he was the wrong Henry Cornell .

I can not find any old records for the Bar.

Bill
