Thanks all, for the warnings about possible thefts. (Oh good - it sounds
just like going to the United States for vacation. :) )

I'll be sure to lock everything into the trunk of the rental car that I'm
really hoping I can keep on the wrong side of the street.

I'll give you all an update when I return. We'll be in Dublin,
Limerick/Ennis and Galway. Also London and Bath/Salisbury in England.
Mostly going to see the ancient sites, such as New Grange, Stonehenge,
Avebury, Clonmacnois, etc.

Also will try and make a 2 hr. stop in Edenderry (30 mi. w. of Dublin on the
Bog of Allen), to see the town that my g-g-gps were from. From what I've
seen on the net and heard, Edenderry isn't exactly the center of the
universe of beauty, but what the heck - it's mine!

I stayed on the outskirts of Dublin for a week in May and everyday bused
in to do research at the National Library of Ireland. I had no problems
and found the city very Irish but a city. Shopped all over. They have
a beautiful three story mall near St Stephen's Green on the corner of
Grafton Street. I ate a couple of times in Temple Bar. I have nothing
bad to say about Dublin but then I grew up outside New York City.

Oh, how could I forget, while I was there waiting for a bus at St.
Stephen's Green, President Clinton went by in a limo with a hugh police
escort. He was at a North of Ireland benefit and giving a speech
there. The Irish love him for the work he did trying to bring peace to
the north.

I had heard terrible stories about the crime in both Dublin and Limerick
City from locals all over the country before visiting both. Maybe I was
lucky but had no problems in either city.
