Greetings from Rockland County, NY!

Yes, Sparkill is still here - south of Piermont, but not on the Hudson
River, on the west side of the high palisades, and yes, south of the Tappan
Zee Bridge. Tappan is the next town to the west. Incidentally it's
"Sparkill" not Sparkhill, "kill" being the Dutch word for stream or creek.

The phone book says Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, Route 340, Sparkill,
845-359-6400. Now there is senior housing on what I believe is their
property as well, Thorpe Senior Housing. The area is level and I would
think it would have been desirable for farming - it's quite lovely the way
it's been developed. St. Thomas Aquinas College is nearby as well.

What were the names of the grandparents who lived there, and did they own a
lot of property? Today what the Dominicans have covers some acres.
