Subject: [NY IRISH] Irish at West Point Foundry

Hi,

I'm new to this list. I am trying to find information on PATRICK SMITH, born
1823, in Ireland, who lived in Cold Spring and worked at the Foundry from
about 1841 until sometime after 1854. He had a wife, Bridget Smith (nee --
Bell) born in 1822, also born in Ireland. His children were Thomas, 1845 NY,
William, 1847 NY, and Catherine, 1854 NY. There are no records of Patrick
after the birth of his daughter. My hunch is he either died at the Foundry
or in the Civil War. Both Bridget and Thomas settled in NYC (West Village)
after the War. Thomas married Julia Sullivan, daughter of Patrick and
Margaret, of County Clare and they had one child, Helen (Nellie). They are
all buried at Calvary, with the exception of Patrick Smith.

I am trying to find where in Ireland Patrick and Bridget were born; also
where and when Patrick died.

Any help with be greatly appreciated.

Joanne
