Check out this site

The document that I looked at was a scan of a volume from the New-York
Historical Society series abstracts of records from the Surrogates
Office of the City of New York. It is just like looking through the
book itself so the best thing to do is to click on VOLUME INDEX and
look up the page number you want and then enter that number in 'go to'
field.

This looks like a great resource and thank you to John for asking the
question because without that I never would have found this!
