Depending on the year, there is a NYC death index filmed by LDS Family
History Library where you can do the look up. They have a Brookyn Death
Index 1848-98 and then NYC Death Index (includes Brooklyn) 1888-1965.
Once you find the death in the indexes, you can then get the
certificate, also on film.
