Hi Patti,

Just thought I would through this out as you never know what may turn up,
But most likely no connection. My G. Grandfather's name was Henry Irwin Waugh. I always wonder thou if Irwin was his surname and was changed, for what ever reason, to Waugh when he came to the US. Do not have a exact date he came but he filed his Naturalization of intent in 1868 at Troy, N.Y. Renss. Co.

Just thought I would through this out as you never know what may turn up.

Thanks
Ed. Waugh

Subject: [NY IRISH] IRWIN/IRVIN/ERWIN

Richard IRWIN (any spelling) b 1813 County Cavan, Ireland
came to US in 1832 with widowed Mother, several sisters and at least one brother.

They settled in Lockport, NY - not sure which port they came through. Richard IRWIN had "college education" and by all appearances was well off. He was in the mercantile business in NY & OH before arriving in MO.

He m. Louisa KOMPP b 1832 Germany in 1850 MO or IA (can't find the marriage record)

Richard IRWIN and new bride crossed the Oregon Trail in 1850. Richard continued the mercantile business in Oregon and California. He was wealthy by most standards-sent his daughter east to finishing schools etc.

I am looking for the rest of this IRWIN/ERWIN/IRVIN family that came to US 1832 from Ireland.

Patti in Portland
