Subject: [NY-LONGISLAND] Richard FANSEY/FANSHER/FANSHAW Islip 1726

Desperately :) seeking information on Richard FANSEY who registered an earmark in Islip in 1726.
Believe he is connected to William FANCY who resigned his earmark in Brookhaven 1720, as the earmarks appear to be identical.
Both are probably descendants of William FANCEY/FANSHAW b. ca 1610-20, who was in New Haven Colony 1643, in Southold LI NY ca 1650, and Setauket/Brookhaven LI NY by 1661. William's first wife is unknown, his second was Katherine (possibly SMITH) who he married sometime around 1660. Children by his first wife were Samuel (died unmarried), Joseph (named in his father's will, no further information,) and William Jr. (In Brookhaven ca 1684, very little information after that date.) Children by his second wife were Hannah (m. Robert GOULSBURY and David JENNING) and Rachel (m. Peter WHITHEARE).
Would like to know about sons Joseph and William Jr. and their families, and anything on Richard of Islip! Surname appears as FANCY/FANCEY, FANSY/FANSEY, FANCYE/FANCIE, and FANSH, FANSHER/FANCHER, FANSHAW etc.
Please keep an eye out for any FANCYs in your genealogical travels through Long Island. Any and all help greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
