I too have been reading more about Gen LEE

I have been searching for a few distant relatives who fought both sides of the
Civil war.

one in particular Daniel RUGGLES, USMA class of 1833, served with LEE in the
Mexican War and so far it appears that Lee was a major if not primary reason
for the sound defeat of a superior enemy.

Remember too that LEE was not in favor of the War and that probably sets the
tone for many writers. He fought because of his love for his beloved
Virginia. He is said to never have called the Union forces the enemy but
referred to them as "the others ???" or very close to that. and too, there
were many on both sides that were torn apart, never the same once they made
their decision as to which side to support and it would have been the same for
them if they had chosen the other side.

So too was it during the Am Revolution

So too was it during Vietnam

I wish to all of you and yours a safe and prosporous New Year
