# 392 - Geneseo - Chartered Aug. 9, 1883.
Captain Augustus Ashley Curtiss, Co. I, 136th NYSV. Geneseo resident who
enlisted at age 20; Sgt. Co. C Sept. 1862; promoted to 2d Lt. March 1, 1863;
to 1st Lt. March 18, 1863; to Captain Nov. 1, 1863; WIA July 20, 1864 at
Peach Tree Creek and lost a leg; discharged for disability Jan. 4, 1865;
"honored by his people by being chosen as county clerk for two terms;" died
in 1871.
