Subject: Battery D 4 US Artillery

Dear List-
I have a letter written by a member of US ARMY Battery D 4 Lt. Artillery. It
lists over thirty names of soldiers in this unit-which was in existence
before, during and after the Civil War. The letter was written in 1911 when
many of these men were applying for pensions and getting their letters of
reference and documentation together. I would like to hear from any
descendents of these men.
I believe this address will take you to my letter;
http://rwguide.rootsweb.com/military/cwletter.html

Some surnames mentioned: Slack, Burns,
Mahanna,Stine,Young,Canfield,Follett,England,Moody, McCarthy,Doane,
Bray,Windsor,Barrett and many more.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the descendants of these men ordered their
military files and we could all compare notes??? Many of these men were from
the NY-PA-OH-VA area. They trained at Carlisle Barracks and were stationed
at Fortress Monroe, VA. The site mentions another Battery D which I sent to
rootsweb and then I followed up with more information on the actual regular
army battery which they did not post-sorry for this.

Hope to hear from some of you
Kay Bradley
