Subject: [NY-Mil] Civil War Burials in Sidney, Delaware,NY
Date: Tue, 3 Apr 2001 19:45:51 -0400

I got this newsclip from my Dad, who still lives in Sidney.
He knows how much time I spend online hunting for "treasures" . He and
Shirley hope that someone on one of the maillists I belong to may recognize
the name of an ancestor and be able to fill in the blanks in the service
records of these veterans. (This is not the entire article..only the names
of the individuals mentioned.)

In Prospect Hill Cemetery
Search Nears Completion For Graves Of Civil War Veterans

Sidney
During the past year, three articles have been published on the search for
the regiments and companies of Prospect Hill Cemetery's Civil War Veterans.
With 160 graves now located, there remain but a few veterans whose
gravestones Shirley Goerlich has placed on hold until further information
about their military service and/or birth and death dates can be documented.
If there remain any descendents of the following names in the Tri-Town area
please get in touch with Shirley at P.O. Box 411, Sidney, NY 13838 or at
1-607-563-9000.

T. Lewis MARSHALL and LeGrande MARSHALL
T. Lewis and LeGrande were, I believe, brothers, who served in different
regiments of the Civil War--

Lewis W. and N.F. (Nelson? Nathan?) ROSE.
N.F. may have died elsewhere...

Frank B. MULKINS

Joseph B. MONFORTE
The only information on Monforte is death date of 1898

Also the following:

John F. PLACE,John H. WARNER, Johnson WRIGHT, Joseph Handy SMITH, William
H.. DOUGLASS, Austin L. MILLER, David S. HILL, Orville KELLOGG, Burton
(Bert) SMITH, Ira E. SHERMAN.

While much information has been proven on these men, their Regiments and
Companies are not known.

Any one wanting more information or having information should contact
Shirley directly.

Michelle
