Our undocumented "family history" says that my g-g grandfather Francis
(Frank) Sheridan (born 15 Aug 1837, Co. Cavan, Ireland, emigrated to NY
aroung 1850, married Mary Carroll 17 May 1872, died 20 Sept 1918) joined
"the New York Regiment" and worked as a "bridge builder" during the
Civil War.

To date I have not been able to determine which "New York Regiment" he
was a member of. Once I figure that out, I will write the National
Archive for records. For now I am at an impasse. Any suggestions or help
would be appreciated.
