I have been transcribing letters my father sent to my mother while he was in
the Navy in WWII... there are many letters for before and after he went
overseas ( Pacific). At first I thought maybe my mother had thrown away most
of them from that period and only kept 3 for that year (maybe too unpleasant
to read?). Is it possible that that was all the mail he had gotten & written
? It almost doesn't seem to be much of a gap conversation wise in his letters
while he was in the Pacific Theater. When he came back and was stationed on
the West Coast the letters were almost daily.

Any input would be helpful on explaining the mail sytem back then and the
possibilty that he really didn't get much mail for a year..

can't ask my parents I am now an orphan

thanks
