I found a listing in a Revolutionary War soldier database that mentioned a name that matched one of my ancestors. It said he was in the 12th Regiment NY militia from Albany County. My ancestor lived in Cambridge NY which was then in Albany County. Could someone tell me how to proceed to find if this was him, and does anyone have any information about the 12th regiment NY Militia in 1776?
