Dear List Members,
I'm unsure where to go for help with this question -so, I'm starting here, maybe someone will have some ideas for me to try-
yesterday my mother in law came upon an old album of photographs - most are the tin-type, some are photos on card-stock, with the photographer's name on the other side.
This particular photo is of a gentleman in a uniform - I have no idea if it is a military uniform - or it could be a police uniform or whatever!

The back of the photo has the photographer's company/info:
Geo. Eichler.
No. 13 Avenue A,
Between 1st and 2nd Streets,
New York.
Negatives preserved for further orders.

Any idea as to how I can identify the uniform this man is wearing?
[we have no idea who anyone in the album's 30+ photos are! - all are vintage mid to late 1800s, maybe early 1900s]
If someone would want me to send them a copy, off-list, if they think they could try to identify the uniform, let me know.
thanks for any suggestions,
Linda
