I have found some additional information on a Charles Pollock. See if this fits or not.
In the 1880 Census there is a listing for a Chas. R. Pollock age 11 (1869) living in Manhattan, New York. I clicked on "household" and it gave me a long list of children of various ages all listed "at school" so this must be some sort of boarding school or home for children or orphange. Next to Chas. R. Pollock was another boy by the name of Jos. F. Pollock age 6 (1874). Not sure if they are related or not. Both born in New York.
I could not determine the name of the school. The page number listed is 147B. There is no ED number listed.
I also found a Charles Pollock age 17 living at home with his father A. B. Pollock age 49 and a brother Albert Pollock age 23 living in Peekskill, Westchester, New York.
