Dear List,
Recently joined this list. My GGgrandmother Fowler (married name) according to census records was said to have been "born at sea" coming from Scotland. I have searched for a long time, but without a maiden name and no given name for GGgrandfather Fowler, bn. New York, I was lost in a world of fog.

I just found a "Scotch Church Cemetery" in Charlton, Saratoga County, NY in the area of native Scottish settlements. The headstones had very informative inscriptions and the records of who was burried where was detailed.

There is a Mary McCartney, bn 1790, who was the daughter of William McCartney and Grizzie McCartney, natives of Scotland. Also the information that "Mary was the wife of William Fowler, bn 1798". William is a prominent name in our Fowler family.

I am looking for someone who is either researching the McCartney line or the Fowler line of that time era and in that area of NY State.

If you are, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Darline Fowler Smith
