“ Mayor Elias Mann welcomes 80 delegates to the 38th annual state convention
of the Order of United American Mechanics to Troy . He tells them that Troy
is favorably situated for entertainment. It has well paved and beautiful
streets,one of the best parks in the country,several railroads and the famous
Hudson with several boat lines which enable its merchants to ship their products
by water.Further signs of progress include the erection of 2 new schools.
