Terry and Michael -

If the indvidual died before mid 1915, the DOH will have no record of
deaths. The state of PA began issuing death certificates beginning about
June 1915. However, most counties did not start sending in death notices to
the state till many months or years later. I had the state due a multi-year
search for my wife's gf and then called the supervisor directly and was told
pretty much what I have stated above. I think the obit angle might be the
better choice as many small towns printed at least a death notice, if not an
obit, which were generally written for people of importance in the town. I
wish I could be of a more positive help but I have been searching for a
death record for one person for over twenty years - no obit, no death
notice, no cemetery in the Philadelphia and surrounding area and I have
written to many cemeteries. Some records are never found for one reason or
another. Hopefully you will have better luck.

Rich
