Subject: [NY-WWS] Invitation to join the CHAMPLAINLG-Valley list
Date: Fri, 28 Dec 2001 10:51:26 -0500

You are cordially invited to become a subscriber to the new
CHAMPLAINLG-VALLEY mailing list!

The Lake Champlain and Lake George Valley region is the focus of the
discussion for this list. Areas included are the Richelieu River Valley
into Canada to the north of Lake Champlain, the regions in both VT and NYS
that surround and are influenced by the two jewel-like lakes, and the
territory of the upper Hudson River Valley extending down through Warren
Co., NY.

What a fascinating history this region has! These valleys and waterways
have played a crucial role in the development and history of North America.
Explorers, hunters, war parties, soldiers and early settlers all have plied
these waters in warm weather, and crossed the ice during the frigid North
Country winters.

The discussion on this new list will be broad-based. Topics will include
but not necessarily be limited to genealogy, history, lifestyles, vital
records, biographies, cemetery & Bible records, archaeology, weather
patterns, etc…on up to and including issues such as the preservation of the
lakes and the surrounding areas.
