I am looking for information about or relatives of my family. Benjamin and
Polly Main Smith came to W. Clarksville in 1835. They had at least 11
children, most of who were born in Otsego County, NY. They lived on Jordan
Hill for over 50 years. We believe that Benjamin moved here with his
brothers but do not know who they were. The children were:
1.Benjamin Jr.-born 1823 buried in Richburg, NY
2. Betsey married Christopher Teft lived in West Almond
3. Daniel born 1824,died 12/29/1903, married Julia Hatch in W. Clarksville ,
had four children; Effie, Arthur (b. 1860), Floria, and Ada (b. 1870).
4. Lucy born 1836 in W..Clarksville, died there 9/30/1900, married Michael
Jordan, had 2 children; Clyde and Ern.
5. Sarah M. born 1827, married George Hamilton, had four children; Mary J.,
Charles L., Florence S., Herman.
6. Harriet married a Baptist minister named Carrier or Cayrer in Richburg.
7. Electa born 7/4/1830 died 11/17/1860 in Richburg, married John G. Fuller
and had two children; Deforrest and Fred.
8. Sidney born 1833- no other info for him
9. William born 12/29/1838- no other info on him
10. Mary married H. Dakins.
11. Henry (my ggggrandfather) born 1823, died 1913, married Mary J. Rice,
had 9 children;
1.Edia b. 1863 died 1931 in Dubois, Pa, married a Peters.
2.Carrie b. 1865 and died young.
3. Fred b. 1867, died 8/6/1926 at Olean Hospital
4. Flora b. 1870 died 1920 in Richburg
5. Nettie b. 1871- no other info
6. Stearns Henry (my gggrandfather) b. 12/10/1872 died 10/10/1946.
7. Alfredia b. 1874
8. Hattie b. 1875 died 1939 in Bolivar, married a Gardner, 3 sons Jim
and Henry were 2 of them.
9. Dessa born 1885 died 1970 in Bolivar, married Lafrone Hazzard.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone with connections or census data from
the areas I mentioned.
