Most of New York State didn't start recording births, deaths, and marriages
until the 1880s so there probably isn't any civil birth record.

Hello list,
I am presently doing research in Ontario county regarding an
ancestor, RODNEY JACOB BOON , who was born in Naples Nov. 21, 1836. What
i'm looking for are his parents and grandparents , and , after
purchasing the 1840 and 1830 census's for that area , have only come up
with one Boon, a GEORGE BOON , in Naples , from the 1830 census .
I checked the U.S.GenWeb for the Ontario County and found some very
good resources listed , like the 1789-1845 Grantee Deed Index for
Ontario County which listed George with a LIB number of 60 and a page
numbers of 229, 230, and 231.The 3 listings were dated 1836. There were
other Boons listed as well with derivative spellings , Gerrets Boon,
Gerrits Boon, Mordecai Boone, Robert Boune, John Bowne, Peter Bowne, and
Robert Bowne.
My quest at the moment is , how would one go about finding an actual
land location that could be used to identify the area from this index
and number system? Are there volunteers locally who would do a lookup
for me from the actual Grantee Deed book?Through the U.S. GenWeb , I
have located other Boon's in Steuben County, therefore would like to
match up George's disappearance from the 1840 census for Naples, with
the Deed records , possibly just outside of Naples , in Steuben County,
which would mean more orders for census records.
Maybe what I should be looking for is a birth certificate , ohh well
next search.
