Editor Marcellus Bereaved.
Le Roy-May, only daughter of George E. MARCELLUS, editor of the
'Gazette,' entered her long sleep Saturday morning at about 9:30 o'clock.
The cause of death was diphtheria, of which she had been ill only about two
days. Her age was five years and five months. She was a very bright little
girl and much liked by all who knew her. The funeral services were
conducted yesterday afternoon by the Rev.. W. C. WILBOR, D.D., with burial
at Machpelah. The attendance was large.

Horse Frightened by a Dog.
John HEINTZ was driving on South Main street this morning when his horse
was frightened by a dog. The bit broke and Mr. HEINTZ had no control of the
animal which ran up Pearl street a short distance, whirled around and threw
the driver out, and then crossed the bridge and ran down Ellicott street,
where it was caught. Mr. HEINTZ was somewhat bruised, and the vehicle was
wrecked.

Mademoiselle BONNET of Rochester proposes giving lessons in French in
Batavia, both in conversation and reading. For information inquire of Mrs.

shirtings, embroideries, laces and corsets. All goods will be sold at
reduction of prices the balance of this month. Remember, the New York Dry
