I spent some time Sunday afternoon browsing through some Albany City
Directories at the Albany Public Library. I am wondering of anyone knows what
the designation "helper" is as someone's work. For example, my father is
listed as a trainman, my grandfather in another section is listed as a
"helper". Also wondering what "bds" means and the single letter "h".
