Has anyone tried checking the Annual Report of the Adjutant General of the
State of New York? I cannot recall if there is an index to all the volumes
but the surnames are in alphabetical order. You just need a name and can check
for the company that way.
An example record would read as:
WEST, DANIEL A age, 38 years. Enrolled, Sept 22, 1862 at Mohawk to serve three
years; mustered in as a captain, Co F, Oct 15, 1862, discharged January 5,
1863.
Commissioned captain, November 3, 1862, with rank from September 22, 1862,
original.
