Answer to Riona's query about St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford, N.Y.
Hi,
St. Joseph's cemetery is at 40 Middletown Road, Waterford, N.Y. 12188.
Phone (518) 237-4023. I don't know which direction you are coming from. If
you are coming from Cohoes and go across the Cohoes Watrerford bridge ( I
think that is Rte 32). You are on Saratoga St. Continue on that toward
Waterford. You will pass the Waterford Rural Cemetery on your left. Keep
going. You cross the Erie Canal Locks. Just as you go over that bridge the
road splits. Continue to the right. When you get down a little further
there is a street to your left(can't remember its name) but there is a
large Catholic Church on that corner. Take a left there. Continue on that
street as it leaves the town and it goes up a hill. When you get near the
top, you will see a cemetery on your left. The first 2 driveways are the
old part of St. Joseph's. The driveway a little further up on the left is
the newer part. There is a house there on the left which is supposed to be
the office but I have never been able to contact anyone when I was there.
If you don't have luck contacting them at the cemetery number, try St.
Joseph's Church in Cohoes. The rectory number is (518) 237-4241. Happy
hunting! I go there every year when I get back east. Most of my relatives
are buried there.
