Hello, can someone with access to Albany area city directories help me to
locate my great-grandparents?

Sam and Anna Goldman appeared in Los Angeles around 1921. I have been
unable to locate their whereabouts prior to that date, but my mother thinks
that they lived at some time in upstate New York, probably Albany. They
were from Russia and probably immigrated between 1905 and 1910. I have not
found them on the St. Albans List or the Ellis Island database. I suspect
that they may have changed their surname before they came to Los Angeles,
perhaps when Sam was naturalized or perhaps earlier (he was a citizen when
he died in 1931).

If Sam and Anna lived in the Albany area, he was probably pursing his
profession as a baker. He may have operated his own bakery, as he did
later. They had an adopted son born in 1906, my grandfather Albert Goldman.

City directory records for 1910-1915 are not available from the Family
History Center -- can someone with access to city directories around this
time period take a look for me?

Thank you so much,

Andrea
