Subject: [NYALBANY] Troy 1900 census update

I am starting to get the 11th ward of the 1900 census on line. This
ward includes 3,912 individuals, 427 dwellings and 857 families. To
date we have five wards on line, including this one, with over 20,000
individuals. The transcribers have completed another six wards but I
have been slow at proofreading them and getting them formatted to go on
line.
For this ward, thank the following people for giving up their time to
transcribe this ward: Bob McConihe, Walt Warren, Herb Phelps, Christine
Dunham, Mary Nigro, Ron Mauer, Kay Brearton, Colleen Wheeler, Gwen
Beiermeister, Art Boyne, Eileen Guinee and Pam Warren.
As usual, a word of warning. This was another horrible ward! I thing
most are in the 1900 census for Troy. Not only was the handwriting bad,
the enumerators couldn't spell the easiest surnames and occupations. We
have transcribed them as spelled so look for all the variations of your
handwriting. If you think you found your family, always check the
original census before using as a source document in your research.
Also, if you find you family and the name(s) are spelled incorrectly, I
will not be able to change the on line census for various reasons.
You can access the census at the Rensselaer County website:

Under Cities, click on Troy, you will find a links under, Censuses.
You can also access the census from my website, under New York State, go
to Troy.
