Seeking info on the Sibbald family who emigrated to the Albany / Cohoes NY area from Scotland @ 1840-45.

Parents were Robert and Mary Sibbald, born @ 1800. Children were John, b. @ 1828, Mary b.@ 1830, and Duncan, b. @ 1838.

John married Ellen Lyle @ 1853; children included Charles (CJ) who was a prominent businessman in Troy (CJ's son John was a prominent pediatrician in Troy and died @ 1980 in Troy); Cora who married George Millious in Waterford; Jessie who married John Sheridan, and Isabella who died at 15 yo.

John Sibbald died between 1864-65 in an "accident" according to family lore. Ellen remarried Patrick Lyons.

Mary married George Ellis @ 1852; not sure what happened to Duncan.

NY census spells the name a variety of ways: Sibell; Sybal; Siblee.

We have been searching for burial places in NY for these Sibbald folks, as well as searching their roots in Scotland, supposedly in Fife. We find only a vague reference to the Sibbald's who emigrated to Canada; no direct lines.
