Hello Michael,
Do you know where they were living in 1900? The 1900 census asked how
long couples were married. If they didn't show up as a married couple until
1910 on a census, search for the marriage on the index between 1900 and
1910. A marriage certificate would give you most of what you are looking
for. The City of Albany only provides information from marriage registry
books. The info is more limited than what you get from NY State, but still
has the basics (parent's names, ages of the couple, employment of the
groom). The state marriage certificates asked other questions including
where the were born and if they were married before. The witnesses are
frequently siblings, and that can help with identifying the family unit in
earlier census years.
My husband has Moynihan ancestors, and the name is frequently misspelled.
Minahan, Minhan, Monhan, Monihan, Moynehan, Moynahan, Moneyhan are just a
few of the ways I have found it spelled on the census, indexes and
directories.
