thanx for the reply, Steve. I have looked through the SSDI. Walter's son, James, was found in Albany (where he lived in the 1930 census unmarried). His son Walter Jr was not found but in the 1930 census he was behind in Oneida, NY. I did find Jr's wife in the SSDI in Oneida, so my guess is that they always lived in Oneida. The son Robert I may have found in Guilderland, Albany Co. The birthdates don't jive but are close. I am trying to find the name of Walter's father. His parents were married & father died in between census years from 1860-1865 (before any vital records were kept by town or state). Walter was 1 or 2 when he died and he was their only child. The cemetery where father was born, now abandoned, has no headstone for him and the vague records only list his surname. I keep hitting a brick wall with this one. If I could find Walter's date & place of death, I could send for a death certificate which would list his father's name. Any other suggestions anyone? Thanx f!
or the help! Valerie

Have you tried the SSDI for any of the sons? It may help find descendents or
location of family in later years.
