Subject: [NYALLEGA-L] McGillivray of Argyle and

John MCGILLIVRAY ( McGilivray, McGilvra, McGilliory, etc.) Arrived Port of NY
1740 with wife Caroline McDONALD and Children Hugh, Donald, Bridget & Mary. I
find them in various Counties & Townships in early censuses. John was to
receive property in the Argyle Patent but was dead by 1763 when it was
awarded. His lot 118 went to son Hugh.
Donald, The other son died Oct. 26, 1812, Town of Argyle, Washington County,
in his Will, he left $250 to the children of HIS son Archibald. This is my
greatest interest as Archibald appears in the 1810 census of Town of Spencer,
Tioga County, NY. I believe him to be the father of my gggrandfather Hugh
McGillivray who was born in Washington County and was raised in Tioga County.
If anyone is aware of the McGillivrays of Washington, Albany, Allegheny, or
Herkimer Counties,
I could really use your help. Thanks a million,
Dick
